Alma L. Tyo

Alma L. Tyo, 98, of Defiance, formerly of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio.

She was born October 11, 1919, in Allen County to William and Mildred (Bowers) Grunden. Both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Tyo, he preceded her in death on September 18, 1996.

She is survived by a daughter, Doneta Adkins of Melrose, OH; two grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Nussbaum; daughter, Shirley Nussbaum; a granddaughter, Kimberly Justinger-Merz;  two grandsons , Anthony “Tony” Carter and Russell Carter; a brother, Harry Rice; and two sisters, Hazel Jarman and Audrey Vandemark.

She had worked at Westinghouse making appliances for many years.  Alma loved to crochet and was an avid attendee of Opry Barn in Oakwood, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at Harter & Schier Funeral Home on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. with burial following at Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Pastor Brian Knoderer will be officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
