David J. Buecker

March 22, 1946 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

David J. Buecker, 71, of Dublin, Ohio, formerly of Delphos, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Mayfair Village Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio.  David fought a long tough battle with Alzheimers. He was born March 22, 1946, in Lima to his mother, Agnes Buecker, his father, John W. Miller. All preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Horstman on May 20, 1983; she survives in Dublin, Ohio.

He is also survived by his two daughters, Cherie (Jeff) Miller of Venedocia, and Christine (Keith) Brown of Hilliard, OH; four grandchildren, Matthew Miller of Clermont, FL, Briana, Brandon and Alexis Brown of Hilliard, OH; brothers-in-law, Charles Horstman of Ottoville, and Dallas (Kathy) Horstman of Huber Heights, OH., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,and his step-mother, Delva (Crider) Miller; a son, Danny, and sisters-in-law, Mary Darlene Horstman and Madelyn (Horstman) Mager. He was also preceded in death by his beloved golden retriever, Muffin.

David retired after many years as a supervisor at Anheiser Busch in Columbus, OH., and he served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a past president of the Ottoville Jaycees where his favorite event was participating in the yearly Christmas program where children were able to call Santa at the North Pole with their Christmas lists.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a huge stamp collector from a very young age.  He was an avid reader with a large library of Sherlock Holmes mysteries, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home and burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or to donor’s choice.
