Dennis Claypool, 72, of Delphos, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born July 20, 1945, to Gerald “Bud” and Anna Belle (Diltz) Claypool in Delphos. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Dianne Clark on August 24, 1968. She survives in Delphos.
He is also survived by three sons, Brian (Stephanie), Travis (Tammy), and Trace (Jennifer Combs) Claypool all of Delphos. Eight grandchildren, Lauren, Brittney, Kristina, Madison, Troy, Macy, Riley, and Sidney; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alvera Paxson of Phoenix, AZ; Geralene (Dick) Thitoff of Delphos; and Joyce (Mark) Miller of Middle Point.
Dennis attended Delphos Wesleyan Church, was a lifelong member of the VFW 3035, the Delphos Bass Club, and the Delphos Sportsman and Coon Club. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was a press operator at Clark Equipment and then retired from The Harter Corporation in Van Wert.
He was an outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish, collect arrowheads and tend to his vegetable garden.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Haddix will officiate. The Delphos Veteran’s Council will begin the service with military graveside rites. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, March 15, 2:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. The family requests that you dress casual for all services.
