Earl H. Pohlman

Earl H. Pohlman, 81, died at 2:30 a.m. Oct. 10, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Delphos to Otto and Cora Fecker Pohlman, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 28, 1976, he married Esther Michel Dickman, who died Dec. 22, 2012. Mr. Pohlman was a lifelong farmer. He had served as a trustee for Washington Township. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, Knights of Columbus Council 1362 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, all in Delphos. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a man with a wonderful sense of humor who enjoyed music and loved to dance. Survivors include three stepsons, Denny (Maribeth) Dickman, of Van Wert, Byron (Ellen) Dickman, of Germany, and Glenn (Barb) Dickman, of Delphos; five stepdaughters, Cynthia (Ray Hobbs) Altman, of Findlay, Darlene (Paul) Langhals, of Cloverdale, Diane Bishop, of Ottawa, Deb (Jerry) Dunnigan, of Columbus Grove, and Marcia (Larry) Klima, of Ottawa; two sisters, Ethel Schwinnen, of Landeck, and Imogene (Bob) Ellerbrock, of Ottawa; 18 stepgrandchildren; 42 stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, James Schwinnen, Dennis Pohlman, Terry Wannemacher, Dan Noonan, Donna Kring, Beth Calvelage, Byron Ellerbrock, Marie Moreno and Todd Ellerbrock. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Noonan and Eleanor Wannemacher; and a brother, Arthur Pohlman. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Dave Reinhart will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. John's Parish Foundation.
