Robert L. Calvelage

Robert L. “Bobby” Calvelage, 80, of Fort Jennings, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at The Meadows of Kalida.

He was born February 15, 1937, in Allen County to Gerard “Dutch” and Gertrude (Krebs) Calvelage. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” L. Warnecke on October 6, 1962, she survives in Fort Jennings.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Haunhorst of Delphos; five sons, Rick (Jackie) Calvelage, of Middle Point, Bill (Deb) Calvelage of Ft. Jennings, Alan (Elaine) Calvelage of Cloverdale, Rex (Beth) Calvelage of Delphos and Brad (Sue) Calvelage of Fort Jennings; brother, Fred Calvelage of Delphos;three sisters, Irma Meyer, and Norma Von Sossan of Fort Jennings, and Carol Ricker of Fort Jennings; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death two sisters, Evelyn Miehls and Judy Miehls; and two brothers, Ronald Calvelage and Gary Calvelage.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Eagles, life member of the VFW, a retired member of the Ft. Jennings Firemen’s, and was a Scout Master. Bob was owner and operator of Calvelage Vault and Excavating and Knotty Pine for about five years. He also took care of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery for 58 years. He retired from Ohio Operating Engineers, Local 18. He also served in the Army from 1957-1959 serving in Germany.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings. Father Charles Obinwa will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Edison.
