William S. Looser

March 23, 1921 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

William (Bill) S. Looser, 96, of Delphos, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at his home.

He was born on March 23, 1921, in Delphos to William J. and Dorothy E. (Bedink) Looser who both preceded him in death.  He was united in marriage on May 18, 1946, to Lillian (Wannemacher) Looser who survives in Delphos.

Bill is also survived by four daughters, Jane Looser, Kathleen Richardson, Cheryl (Joseph) Smith and Lisa (Wayne) Smith, all of Delphos; four sons, Robert (Christine) Looser, Gerald (Mary) Looser, and James Looser all of Delphos, and William Jr. (Catherine) Looser of Ottoville; sixteen grandchildren,  nineteen great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Robert Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Romus (Marie) Looser and Elmer (Jesslyn) Looser, and two sisters, Ann Marie Buchanan and Dorothy Looser.

Bill was a member of Delphos St. John’s Catholic Church,  a life member of The Knights of Columbus, a charter member of Delphos Lions Club, a lifetime member of VFW Post 3035, and The American Legion #268.  Bill was a World War II Army veteran serving in their 235th Quartermaster Battalion Mobile European Theater in Africa and Italy.  After returning from the war, he worked for Lincoln Highway Dairy which was later San-A-Pure Dairy.  He was a dairy farmer for 35 years and was the owner alongside his wife, Lillian, of the Country Kitchen in Delphos.  Bill also worked at the Lima News for over twenty years, and the Delphos Herald in retirement.   He was at one time the Delphos City Director.

He was a great fan of the Cleveland Indians and was a member of the Browns’ Backers.  He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and the outdoors.  However, Bill most of all enjoyed being with his wife and family.  His best days were spent sitting in the sun watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
