Linda Mayer, 74, of Elida, passed away on January 12, 2024, at her home. She was born March 9, 1949, in Lima, Ohio to Donald and Evelyn (Himmeger) Weideman. They both preceded her in death. On March 20, 1971, she was united in marriage to David Mayer. He survives in Elida.
She is also survived by her son, Matthew Mayer of Columbus; her daughter, Kristin (Brian) Koebel of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Georgia Mayer, Jordan, Colin, Charlotte Koebel; nephews, Clint Brekhus, Clay Brekhus; and sister in law, Kathy (Steve) Brekhus all of Cookeville, Tennessee.
Linda’s passion was her family, most importantly, her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their ballgames which took her all over the United States. She also loved family summer beach vacations with the kids and grandkids. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and very involved in their Altar Guild and choir. She was a people person and very approachable, and enjoyed having lunch with friends. She graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1967, and then from Richard Westin Beauty School. She was a beautician for many years at Ginny’s Beauty Shop. She retired after many years of service as the shop manager for the Regional Girl Scouts Retail Shop. She also worked for the USPS as a rural delivery driver.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos. Pastor Carol Pretorius will officiate. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos. Visitation will be Thursday January 18, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
