Michael Kemper, 69, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born October 23, 1954, in Lima, OH, to Leo and Angela (Kaverman) Kemper. They both preceded him in death. On September 29, 2006, he was united in marriage to Linda Hartsock. She survives in Delphos.
Michael is survived by son, Robert Kemper; stepsons, Brian (Jennifer) Dudgeon, Bradley (Lisa) Dudgeon, and Travis Dudgeon; daughter, Michelle Stiffey; three grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by stepson, Kevin Dudgeon; brothers, Gerald “Gerry” and Steve Kemper; and grandson, Philip Dudgeon.
Michael was the Delphos Assistant Chief of Police for 30 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a former Commander of the American Legion and helped plan the Veteran Memorial in Delphos. Michael is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked in the nuclear program. He enjoyed traveling all of the country especially the back roads. Michael enjoyed visiting Wright Patterson Air Force Museum and looking at all of the airplanes. He loved watching his grandkids’ sporting events and visiting casinos.
Funeral Service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, with a Military Grave Rite Service by the Delphos Veteran’s Council. Pastor Steve Haddix will officiate. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
