Della Rae Rekart

Della Rae Rekart, 90, of Delphos, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1928, in Van Wert to Doris and Freda (Wollett) Gallaway. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Roger J. Rekart on August 22, 1953; he preceded her in death on October 7, 2004.

She is survived by a nephew, David (Becky) Taylor of Lima and a niece, Jeanne (Terry) Sawmiller of Wapakoneta.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Red Hat Society, Eagles #370, Elks #54, and she worked as a secretary at Teledyne Ohio Steel for 30 years and as a realtor for The Gooding Real Estate Company for over 20 years. Della enjoyed traveling to Europe, Mexico, and locally around Arizona. She enjoyed watching and playing golf, and loved baseball and basketball, especially her Arizona Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns. she was also an avid bridge player both in Ohio and Arizona. She was a very social person.  Della also enjoyed hosting, and spending quality time with friends and family while living in Arizona.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. A Parish Wake will begin at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s Choice.
