Dorothy H. Dillon

Dorothy H. Dillon, 99, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Delphos.

She was born June 22, 1918, in Delphos to David Charles and Edna Claire (Baxter) Griffith. They both preceded her in death. On June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Thomas C. Dillon; he preceded her in death on April 24, 1997.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Kenneth C. (Stephanie) Dillon of Delphos; a daughter, Deborah J. (Paul) Youngpeter of Sylvania, OH; grandchildren, Shannon (Nathan) Boyd, Katie (Matthew) Stapleton, Beth Youngpeter, Ryan (Sarah) Dillon and Chad Dillon; seven great-grandchildren, Will, Molly, Zachary, Harmony, Brandon, Chloe, and Chad; three step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Matt, and Ryan East; and five step-great-grandchildren, Steven, Alex, Caden, Willow, and Zachie.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth (Ralph) Allemeier and Edna (Zennith) Bemis; and an infant brother.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a 1936 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School. She had worked at New Delphos Manufacturing as a secretary, and also The Delphos Herald and The Delphos Public Library. Dorothy enjoyed being a home maker and loved getting the family together. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, receiving a 70-year membership pin last spring. She enjoyed being outside and liked to watch the birds, crossword puzzles and reading.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, St. Rita’s Hospice, or Van Crest Activities Department.
