Edward J. Straley, 78 of Paulding passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Van Wert in patient Hospice Care surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 14, 1940, in Paulding, Ohio to Chester and Velma (Kaiser) Straley. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Carol Johnson on May 24, 1961.
Edward is survived by his wife, Carol and son Daniel (Jill) Straley of Paulding; his daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Stiverson of Marion Ohio, and Lisa (Scott) Worden of Payne Ohio; two brothers William (Shirley) Straley of Van Wert, David (Elizabeth) Straley of Ft. Wayne; two sisters Rosella (Ron) Sesney and Kathy (Greg) Gorrell both of Ft. Wayne; and six grandchildren, Alex Straley of Paulding, Dylan and Brock Worden of Paulding, and Hayley, Kelsey, and Alexis Stiverson of Marion.
He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paulding where he was on the property committee for building the new church. Edward was a Paulding County Commissioner for four years, and was on the Soil and Water Conservation Board for six years. He was a member of the Paulding County Consumer Board and served as Jury Commissioner for many years. Ed loved to auctioneer; he was a true pillar of the Paulding community. Edward enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spending his winters in Florida. He was a 1958 graduate of Paulding High School, was a lifetime farmer and loved raising his children on the farm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paulding. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at the church.
