Florence J. Vogt Shenk

Florence J. Vogt Shenk, 99, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Vancrest Healthcare Center in Delphos. She was born August 30, 1919, to John and Veronica (Kemper) Saum. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Bernard F. Vogt on May 1, 1940; he preceded her in death on June 9, 1975.  She then married Robert L. Shenk on August 4, 1979, and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2008.

She is survived by four daughters, Rosella (Tom) Krietemeyer of Delphos, Anita (Tom) Carter of Fort Wayne, IN, Janette (Roger) Gerdeman of Columbus, and Diana (Steve) Warnecke of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Barbara (Dave) Gerding, Deb (Mike) Gable, Sarah (Darrin) Burgei, Robert (Jennifer) Carter, Mary Beth (Drew) Myers, Denise (John) Vitullos, Brenda Gerdeman, and Nicholas (Diana) Warnecke; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Vogt; her brother, Bill Saum; and her sister, Vera Osting.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, CL of C Council #40, Alter Rosary Society, and a high school graduate of Fort Jennings High School. Florence was Co-Owner of Vogt and Vogt Restaurant for over 25 years and then she was a major buyer for Shenks for over 40 years, working until she was 88 years old. She was an avid reader, a wonderful seamstress, and a world traveler. In her early years she enjoyed going bowling and loved working cross word puzzles.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
