Joe Altman Obituary

Joe M. Altman, 71, of Middle Point, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at his residence. He was born April 15, 1948, to Matthew and Valeria (Thines) Altman. They both preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons, Curtis Altman, Todd Altman, Byron Altman, Chauncey Altman; Brother, Byron (Jane) Altman of Delphos; three sisters, Jeanine Ulrich of Delphos, Marcia (Scott) Prindle of Michigan, and Virginia Tierney of Gomer; seven grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Charles Link of Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Link; and a brother, David (Luan) Altman.

Joe was a member of the White Horse Biker Church in Middle Point, had worked for Norfolk Southern for 35 years, starting after high school, and served in the National Guard as a medic during the Vietnam War. He was also an active member in the free masons of the Mt. Cory Lodge #418 F&AM, where he was a Past Master. He also held several other Masonic offices over the years. Joe was a 1966 graduate of Delphos St. John’s and was an avid collector of about anything.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 2-5 p.m.There will be a Masonic service at 4:30 p.m.  Funeral services  will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
