John Moreo

John Moreo, 78, of Delphos, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at his residence. He was born May 3, 1941, at home in Delphos to Charlie and Fern (Ralston) Moreo. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Dolories Miller; she preceded him in death on March 13, 2002.

He is survived by four daughters, Beth (James Blumke) Engstrand of Van Wert, Carol (Joe) Kraner of Ohio City, Wanda (James Poeppelman) Moreo of Celina, and Angie (Mark) Grothouse of Delphos; seven grandchildren; and a special granddaughter, Balinda (Seth) Mobley; three great-granddaughters, Tianna, Isabella, and Olivia; Brother, Ronnie (Janett) Moreo of Delphos; sister, Sue “Sis” Matson of Delphos; and sister-in-law, Ruth Moreo of Delphos. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Moreo; brother-in-law, Dale Matson.

John was a past member of the Delphos Bass Club, a member of the Eagles #471, and was a trap shooting enthusiast for many years. John was a self made man through extreme hard work ethic. He was self-employed with Moreo Roofing and then built Moreo Mobile Homes around 1974, which is now Ulm’s 2. After retiring from Moreo General Contracting, he then moved to Spencerville where he found his calling as a farmer, one of his favorite things to do was spading the garden with his father. John was a dog lover most of his life and he loved the family tradition of Sunday supper.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hartford Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
