Kermit Minnig, 92, of Delphos, passed away on April 10, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
He was born on December 26, 1925, in Lima to Joseph and Margaret (Hesseling) Minnig. Both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Mildred Crede. She survives in Delphos.
He is survived by two sons, Kermit Minnig, Jr. of Delphos and Michael (Laura) Minnig of Delphos; two daughters, Karen (Terry) Martin of Delphos and Michelle (John) Allen of Lima; seven grandchildren, Kevin Martin, Chad (Tiffany) Martin, Aaron Allen, Zach Allen, Jordan Minnig, Brandon Minnig, and Nikki (Nate) Kuhlman; and seven great grandchildren, Cloe, Alli, Bella, Rileigh, Sophia, Duane, and Korbin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene (Thelma) Minnig, Cyril (Kathryn) Minnig, and Cammillus (Alma) Minnig; and two sisters, Celestine (Cleo) Brockman and Agnes Gasser.
Kermit retired from Fruehauf Corporation. He then went to work and retired from Meijer where he enjoyed working in the candy and produce departments. Kermit was an Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, lifetime member of the Delphos Eagles Aerie #471 where he was a past president, and an avid Delphos St. John’s sports fan. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, making models out of wood, and spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery where Delphos Veteran’s Council will perform military grave rites. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, from 4-8 at Harter and Schier Funeral Home where a Parish Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m.
