LaDonna Barnes

LaDonna L. Barnes, 87, of Delphos, passed away on October 28, 2017, at her home.  She was born December 19, 1929 to Benjamin and Rosa (Schmitz) Allen who preceded her in death.  On May 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harvey G. Barnes who passed away in 1999.

LaDonna is survived by five daughters, Christy Hammond of Delphos, Sherri (Geoff) Hohwald of Atlanta,  Becky (Tom) Wulfhorst of Delphos, Robin (Glen Beutler) Geise of Ottawa and Alice (Michael) Barnes Curth of Delphos; two brothers, Dale Allen and Jerry Allen;  three sisters, Betty Brown, Melba Voltz, and Evelyn Brincefield; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Barnes;  a son-in-law, Chuck Hammond; two brothers, Vernon and Bruce Allen and one sister, Linda Bendele.

LaDonna was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was a Girl Scout Leader.  She often volunteered in the St. John’s “Mom’s room.”  She retired from Lazarus where she worked in the interior design studio.   LaDonna had a great interest in interior design and also loved to quilt and crochet. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. A Parish Wake will be held at 6:45 pm. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
