Linda D. Stemen

Linda D. Stemen, 75, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at her daughter’s residence.

She was born September 5, 1942, in Lima to George and Betty (Buffenbarger) Sroufe. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Dennis A. Stemen on March 21, 1959; he preceded her in death on September 3, 2000.

She is survived by three sons, Dan (Lisa) Stemen of Van Wert, Tony (Amy) Stemen of Mt. Vernon, OH, and Zach (Rebekah) Stemen of Delphos; four daughters, Peggy (Dave) Grothause of Lima, Mary Ann (Nate) Swartz of Smyrna, TN, Amy (Brad) Young of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Stacy (Jason) Klint of Delphos; son-in-law, Bill (Lois) Stober of Elida; two brothers, Gary (Louise) Sroufe of Delphos and Paul “Nub” (Kay) Sroufe of Westerville, OH; three sisters, Marilyn (Ed) Holdgreve of Delphos, Kathy (Jim) Watson of Plymouth, MI, and Carol Spring of Delphos; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Stober, two brothers-in-laws, Tom Baker and Terry Spring; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Linda was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a home maker. Her family was her life. She gave everything to her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Linda was a prayer warrior and had the gift of hospitality. She was always the first person to help someone in need. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, swimming, and reading. She was known as Grandma Linda, even to the neighbor kids and the kids that her daughters babysat for. She touched many people’s lives through her baking and she never knew a stranger.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00a.m. until the time of service at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Rich Rakay, Tony Stemen, and Derek Stemen will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, February 9, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Team Max; please make checks payable to Jared or Mandy Wiltsie.
