Rita Jeanette Theobald

Rita Jeanette Theobald, 85, of Spencerville, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018, at her residence. She was born July 16, 1933, to Harvey Friend and Florence (Martin) Friend-Matchett, both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to John L. Theobald on July 19, 1953, he survives in Spencerville.

She is survived by three children, Karen S. Robinson of Delphos, John W. Theobald of Lakeview, and Daniel “Joe” (Cheryl) Theobald of Delphos; two granddaughters, five grandsons; and nine great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by a son, James Ray “Jimmy” Theobald; two sisters, Mary Ellen Wreede and Ruth Brown; and one brother, Robert Rupert.

She was a member of Christie United Methodist Church, past member of the Eastern Star, and of The Rebecca’s. Rita was a home maker, and a 1951 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School.  Rita will be remembered for her excellent cooking and baking talents, she enjoyed canning her vegetables from her garden, and was a animal lover and truly loved camping.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Harry Tolhurst will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Roselawn Manor.
