Robert L Mager

Robert L. “Bob” Mager, 79, of Delphos, went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born June 19, 1938, in Ohio City to Ray and Ardolia (Collins) Mager. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Madelyn L. Horstman on April 30, 1960; she preceded him in death on July 3, 1996.

He is survived by four sons, Scott (Deb) Mager of Littleton, CO, Andrew (Tammi) Mager of Parker, CO., Jim (Angela) Mager of Kerrville, TX, and Curt (Christine) Mager of Austin, TX; two daughters, Ann (Randy) Rahrig of Bourbonnais, IL and Trish Mager Paxson of Delphos; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two on the way; three brothers, Jim Mager of League City, TX, Bill (Nancy) Winters of New Haven, IN, and Terry (Bobbie Turner) Rogers of Oregon; and special family friends, Ben and Cheryl Neumeier and family and Chuck and Becky Wiechart and family.

He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, past president of the Noon Optimist Club, and he was a past president and coach for Delphos Midget Football. He had a passion for music and loved to watch movies, he was a great communicator and was a dog lover, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob had worked at Ford Motor Company as a supervisor for over 20 years and he served in the Marine Corps.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council. Father Doug Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. with a parish wake to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation.
