Roger LeRoy Stant, 79, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his residence.
He was born November 22, 1938, at home in Delphos to Leroy and Rita (Bendele) Stant. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Virginia Eccard on April 13, 1964; she preceded him in death on October 30, 1998.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Dearth of Defiance, Teresa “Tess” (Jeff) Deuel, and Jamie (Rodney Aker) Lucas both of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Nicole, Zachary, Cody, Lindsay, Caleb, Delaney, and Jaden; five great-grandchildren, Brelynn, Cawner, Zeke, Rylinn, and Blayke; brothers, Danny (Marsha) Stant of Mendon, John Stant, and Rick (Karen) Stant both of Delphos; sisters, Nancy Zacharich of Leipsic, Bonnie (Mike) Luke of Wapak, Kathy Stant of Wapak, and Darlene (Rick) Pohlman of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tabatha Beining; son-in-law, Bryan Reames; two brothers, William and Thomas Stant; and two sisters, Betty Burwell and Dorothy Siebert.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Am Vets Post 1991 in Defiance, American Legion #191, UAW 211, and he served in the Navy from 1958-1962. Roger retired from General Motors as a Millwright in 2001 after 38 years of service. He was an avid sports fan especially his Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavs. He enjoyed playing the lottery, especially scratch offs, and also loved watching game shows; his favorite was Family Feud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery where Millitary Grave Rites will be held by Delphos Veterans Council. Friends may call on Monday, August 20, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home where a Parish Wake service will be held at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s Choice.
