Rose M Hilvers

Rose M. (Kill) Hilvers, 78, of Delphos passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Vancrest of Delphos.

She was born July 12, 1939, in Elgin to Clarence and Freda (Donaldson) Kill.  She was united in marriage on June 25, 1960, to Lawrence Hilvers of Delphos, who survives.

She is survived by a son Keith Hilvers of Delphos; two daughters, Sherry (Ron) Etzkorn of Delphos and Bev (Dan) Maag of Kalida;  a brother, Alfred Kill (Catherine Miller) of Delphos; four sisters, Marty (Louie) Hotz of Paulding, Kathy (Bill) Courtney of Delphos, Bert (Ron) Schimmoeller of Delphos, and Rita (Sam) Utrup of Delphos; sister-in-law, Margaret Sterling of Delphos; six grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) Etzkorn, Alyssa (Keith) Saum, Katrina Rose Etzkorn, Cody Hilvers, Danielle Maag, and Abby Rose Maag; and two people who were very special friends, John Sheeter and Gerald Lindeman.

She was preceded in death by a brother Elmer Kill, infant brothers Ralph and Carl; brothers-in-law, Lavern Hilvers and Lester Sterling; and sister-in-law, Louise Kill.

Rose worked many years as a meat cutter at Helmkamp Meat Market and the Delphos Food Locker.  She also worked at Hayes-Albion Corporation of Spencerville.  She was a member of Delphos St. John the Evangelistic Church, Delphos Eagles Auxiliary, a life-time member of the Spencerville VFW, and the Landeck CL of C.

She loved planning bus trips of all types; gambling and visiting various cities such as New York, Charleston, Branson, and Cape Cod.  Many of these trips were planned with the purpose of raising money for Up to the Challenge.   Her children and her grandchildren were the true loves of her life.            

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Douglas Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow at  St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Landeck.  Friends may call on Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home where a Landeck CL of C Auxiliary Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., a Delphos Eagles Auxiliary Service at 3:15 p.m. and a Parish Wake at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
