Rosemary A. “Rosie” Swick, 90, of Defiance, formerly of Delphos, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
She was born September 19, 1927, in Delphos to Clarence and Elizabeth (Rode) Hemker. On May 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Swick. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2013.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Don) Fischer of Maumee and Candyce “Candy” (Paul) Hawk of Defiance; five grandchildren, Eric (Nikki) Fischer, Brad (Jennie) Fischer, Annette Urbanski, Heath (Kelli) Hawk, and Jerrod (Jennifer) Hawk; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, George Hemker of Kettering, and Dick (Marilyn) Hemker of Findlay.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Hemker Jr. and one sister, Martha Dickrede.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Defiance and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. She worked four years as a secretary at Delphos St. John’s High School. She and her husband owned The Vanilla Hut in Defiance for over ten years. Rosie was a member of AMVETS post 1191 in Defiance. She loved to play cards and bingo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, April 8, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The Hands of Hope Pregnancy Program of Paulding.
