Una Mae Bookman, 75, of Elida, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health Systems with her family by her side following an extended illness. She was born May 13, 1943, in Lima to Charles and Eileen (Hoover) Beerline. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Fred Comston in 1963; he preceded her in death in 1983. On October 11, 1990 she married James R. Bookman, he survives in Elida.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie A. Kohls of Lima; a son, Don E. (Tina) Comston of Plain City; sister, Diane J. Sharp; five grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Hanf, Andrew (Kelley) Hanf, Joshua Hanf, Becky (Dan) Wallace, and Brian Comston; four great-grandchildren, Jeriah, Caeden, Brody, and Ezra; and her beloved pets, Cappie, Joey, Bucky, Muffy, and Gracie.
She attended Elida High School and retired from Hayes-Albion Harvard Industries/Trim Trends Corp. after 30 years of service. She was also employed at The Lima News retiring again in 2006. She loved her family, her many beloved dogs and cats over the years. She enjoyed working in her yard and her many flowers and bingo.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice or Deb’s Dogs.
