William "Bill" Barnes

William “Bill” Barnes, 57, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his residence in St. Marys. 

He was born December 31, 1959, in Bowling Green to the late Neal Barnes and to Eileen (Richardson) Barnes Sponsel of Spencerville.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Nate) Price of Ft. Jennings; two brothers Steve (Jane) Barnes of Van Wert and Tim (Jennie) Barnes of St. Marys; lifetime friend and the mother of his daughter, Brenda Shinn; and four grandchildren, Izaac Clark, Elisa Price, Zach Grone, and Austin Price. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Barnes, and stepfather, Rev. Walter Sponsel.

Bill was employed by CAPT of Celina, and previously employed at  RTH and Excello.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Bill loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 31, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.  President Michael Bissegger will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Carmen Cemetery in Gomer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
