William H. “Bill” Clinger, 67, of Findlay, formerly of Delphos, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones.
Bill was born July 7, 1951, in Lima to John Henry “Hiney” and Helen (Ford) Clinger. They both preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Nicole (Levi) Loft of St. John’s, FL and Kelly Clinger (Zachary Box) of Naples, FL; and two grandchildren, Anderson and Evan Loft who were his pride and joy.
Bill was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson and Ohio State University. He was currently self-employed as the owner of Mercari Group, a marketing and advertising company. He retired from The Lima News where he had been Marketing Director. Previously, he worked for the Chamber of Commerce in several states. Bill was also a part time instructor at Owens Community College and a long time Chairman of the Lima Star Spangled Spectacular. He was on the board of directors for both the American Cancer Society and the Boy Scouts, and on the advisory committee of both Rhodes College and UNOH. Bill was also involved with Findlay First Edition. Bill was a referee for both softball and basketball, and had a love for music and was a talented drummer. For over 25 years he played with the 3rd Floor Band. When he had time to get away, he loved going to his lake cottage on Indian Lake in Michigan since 1980.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Pastor David Harris will officiate. Visitation will also be on Thursday, November 15, 2018, from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Services in Findlay.
