Ada Maxine Brenneman, 94, of Lima, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born in Pettisville, OH, on May 22, 1930, to Charles and Bessie (Frey) Miller. They both preceded her in death. On June 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Andy Brenneman. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2015.
Ada is survived by her son, Byron (Susan) Brenneman of Elida; daughters, Mary Ann (Bob) Moore Sharon (Larry) Vandemark, and Brenda (Ken) Good all of Elida, Debbie (Jay) Hoover of Byron, IL, and Bonnie (Timothy) Good of Lima, OH; sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Stuckey Miller, and Marilyn Miller both of Goshen, IN, and Esther Miller of CA; 24 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren.
Ada was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Short and Marilouise Waidelich; and brothers, Marlin, Virgil, Kenneth, Robert, Dale, and Glenn Miller.
Ada was a housewife who also worked at the Elida Auction House and would clean houses. She was a member of the Golden Achievers and Salem Mennonite Church. Ada volunteered at the soup kitchen and the Etcetera Shop in Bluffton. She was an Elder in the church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Ada was truly a lady of prayer. She will always be remembered for her homemade pies and sugar cookies. Ada was an avid quilter and loved her red cardinals. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at St Rita’s, as well as, the staff at Vancrest for all those years of service and care.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024, with calling one hour prior at Salem Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in Salem Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Mennonite Church and Lifewise Academy Elida (check needs to be made out to ACTS Charter Academy).
