Arthur J. McClaskey

Arthur J. McClaskey Jr., 85, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Delphos. He was born February 15, 1934, in Hamden, Ohio to Arthur J. Sr. and Flora (Nunnamaker) McClaskey. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Barbara Farrow on November 7, 1959; she preceded him in death on June 25, 2013.

He is survived by a son, Ricky McClaskey of Bidwell, OH; two daughters, Deborah Tiviner of Columbus, OH and Mary (Kevin) Watkins of Delphos; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Fredann, Paul, Robert, Tonya, Jennifer, Justin, Amanda (Tyler), Katherine, Elizabeth (Josh), and Ashley; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Pugh; seven siblings, John McClaskey, Frank McClaskey, Maggie Waldron, Bessie Brickles, Alice Jayjohn, Mary Jayjohn, and Helen Perkins; granddaughter, Tami; and a half sister, Marie Lowe.

Arthur served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Hamden high school. He was the executive commander of the Rogers Rangers, where he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His rank will be retired. He helped with distribution of the food give away at the Delphos Eagles and also helped with the Miami Canal clean up. He enjoyed walking, making people smile, he was a jokester and was always there to help or volunteer for anything.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1 until the time of the service at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Reverend Don Lamb will officiate. There will be military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
