Betty J. Kennedy, 76, of Fort Jennings, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born March 2, 1947, in Lima to Stanley and Sara (McGue) Kennedy. Both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Karl (Kay) Kennedy of Fort Jennings; three nieces, Jamie (Jeremy) Tenwalde of Ottoville, Kayla Kennedy of Toledo, and Kristi (Paul) Jerzykowski of Toledo; one great nephew, Finn Tenwalde; and one great niece, Falynn Tenwalde.
She is also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Kennedy.
Betty graduated from Fort Jennings High School in 1965. She was employed for many years at Toledo Molding and Die of Delphos.
She retired from there in 2017.
After retirement, she worked part-time at Middle Point AMVETS Post #698 and in the kitchen at Ft. Jennings American Legion Post #715.
She was an active member of Ft. Jennings American Legion Post #715 and Auxiliary where she served as Chaplain. She was a member of Ottoville VFW Post #3740, Delphos Eagles Aerie #471, and Middle Point AMVETS Post #698.
Betty loved the color purple. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, shopping, and going to the casino. She was very social and loved being around people. She was extremely caring, always thinking of others. The most important thing in her life was spending time with her family, especially her great nephew and great niece, who affectionately referred to her as "Butt Butt".
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Fish will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Fort Jennings.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour before the service at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Ft. Jennings American Legion Post #715 Auxiliary will be remembering Betty with a memorial service, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 3:30 p.m.
