Betty J. Kimmet

Betty J. Kimmet, 95, of Delphos, passed away Thursday, November 03, 2022, at Vancrest of Delphos.  She was born to Nicholas and Marcile (Herring) Bardo on February 4, 1927. On May 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kimmet.  He preceded her in death on August 26, 2003. 

Betty is survived by her children, Dave (Deb) Kimmet of Delphos, Deb Nye of Elida, and Dan (Cindy) Kimmet of Delphos; ten grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane Kimmet, and a sister-in-law, Skip Bardo.    

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Dennis Kimmet; two brothers, Carl Gene Bardo and Charles “Chuck” Bardo, and sister, Mona Lou (Max) Wisher; and a son-in-law, Dareld Nye. 

Betty was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  She was an auxiliary member of the Delphos VFW post #3035 and a past member of the Delphos Catholic Ladies of Columbia. In addition to being a homemaker, Betty worked at Gressel’s Produce. She loved to cook and was amazing at it.  She was especially good at making noodles and potato salad, and her fried chicken was fantastic. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 7, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.  Fr. Tony Vera will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. A VFW Ladies Aux. Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
