Carl F. Dienstberger, Jr., 92, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Delphos, Ohio. He was born July 22, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Carl F. Dienstberger, Sr., and Mary Jeanette “Molly” Smith. They both preceded him in death.
Carl is survived by his sister, Sally Ann (Dienstberger) Hurt; nephew, Dr. John R. Hurt, II, (Sonia); niece, Sharyl A. (John) LeFavour; grandnieces, Elizabeth A. LeFavour and Grace S. Hurt; grandnephews, John A. LeFavour and Sean N. Hurt, all of Oxford, Florida. In addition, he is survived by his good friends: Ralph Wilson, Charles Flanagan, Tom Marks, Dan Dawe, and Chuck Kroeger as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dr. J. Richard Hurt.
Carl received two Master’s Degrees, one from Purdue University and the other from Ohio State University. He received the Dean Potter Award for most improved engineering freshman while at Purdue. Carl was employed by Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an aeronautical engineer for over 30 years and was heavily involved in jet propulsion when he worked for the government. He had his private pilot’s license and thoroughly enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, tennis, baseball, basketball, and was a car enthusiast.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Graveside service and burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos, Ohio.
