Carol Ann Bonifas, 77, of St. Marys, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her residence in St. Marys, OH. She was born August 17th, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, to Arnold and Delores (Suever) Gasser; they both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Jan Bonifas on September 30, 1969.   They just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.  Jan survives in St. Marys.   

Carol is also survived by her children, Lisa (Mark) Keller of Delphos, and Jeff (Jennifer) Bonifas of Lebanon; grandchildren Danielle (Zachary) Hughes and Jordan Brown; great-grandson, Brooks Allen Hughes;  brother, Donald Gasser of Ft. Jennings; sisters, Elaine Miller of Ft. Jennings, Deborah (Keith) Dukes of Delphos, and Kathy (Charlie) McDonald of Florida.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Danny Gasser and Dennis Gasser,  her great-granddaughter, Whitlee Jane Hughes; and a grand puppy, Angus, whom she loved.   

Carol was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.  She graduated from Ft. Jennings High School in 1963, and worked in Delphos at her in-law’s restaurant, Nu-Maudes, until the day her husband sold the business. She and her husband also owned JB Pastries in St. Marys.  Carol was a very hard worker and never missed a day of work! She retired in 2011.   Because of her restaurant background, Carol was a foodie.  She also loved decorating her home for the holidays; hence, was a part of St. Marys parade of homes which she loved.  She also loved watching her grandchildren as being with family was most important to her. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, and 9-9:45 am on Wednesday, November 23, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
