Charles “Jeff” Jefferson Miller, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s. He was born January 30, 1934, in Urbana, OH, to Harry and Margaret (McNab) Miller. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Mary Crowe on January 31, 1958, recently celebrating 64 years together. She survives in Delphos.
Jeff is survived by sons, John and Samuel (Angie) Miller both of Delphos; daughters, Susan (Charles) Gabel of Findlay, Alison Metcalfe of Delphos, and Jan (Thomas) Nussbaum of Cloverdale; 12 grandchildren: Ronnie Gabel, Stefanie Holvey, Jason Miller, Andrew Gabel, Marcus Gabel, Emily Trejo, Rachel Miller, Alexander Miller, Claire Nussbaum, Min Metcalfe and Sarah Miller; and seven great-grandchildren, Brayden Gabel, Jackson Miller, Lillian Knuth, Tatum Gabel, Luke Knuth, Jameson Miller and Holden Norling.
Jeff was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Ann Wilson; grandson, Nathan Miller; and sons-in-law, Larry Wilson and Ronald Metcalfe.
Jeff was a railroad conductor starting at NickelPlate which then became Norfolk-Southern. He was a member of the Van Wert Elks #1197 and Delphos American Legion Post #268. Jeff was in the United States Navy; serving in Korea. He enjoyed golfing and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home with a military service at 7:00 p.m. by the Delphos Veteran's Council.
