Darlene Y. Best

Darlene Y. Best, 87, of Delphos, passed away at 1:43 a.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Vancrest of Delphos. She was born December 4, 1933 to Marion and Dorothy (Ellerbrock) Wells. They preceded her in death. On December 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to William James Best. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2009.

She is survived by her son, Larry Best of Delphos, OH; a granddaughter, Whitney (Ian) Truax of Galloway, OH; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Jackson, and Scarlett Wright.

Darlene is a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School, Class of 1951. She then went on to attend Lima Business College earning an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. In her spare time, Darlene enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, playing cards, crocheting and making crafts for the UAW. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos and past member of the Delphos Lions and Delphos Lioness Clubs. She and her husband, Bill, were very active in the Lions Club, traveling across the country to attend the conventions, along with helping to run the local pancake and sausage breakfasts at Delphos Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
