David Maxwell Obituary

David Wayne Maxwell, I, left his earthly home and entered the Kingdom on Sept. 22, 2024. He was born in Lima, OH. on September 21, 1938, to the late LaVerne O. & LaVerne H. (Grundisch) Maxwell.

He married Patricia Buzard on Oct. 16, 1962, who preceded him in death on March 27, 1994. He married Kristi Sterling on June 13, 1996, who survives. He is survived by daughters: Laurie Kohls of Ottawa, Kimberly Eilerman (Michael) of Elida. Stepdaughters: Susie Wirwille of St. Marys, Tracey Leeman (Chris) of Allen Park, MI & Leslie Sterling of Lima. Survived by son: David W. Maxwell II (Christine) of Elida and stepsons, James Martin, Joe Martin (Sally) of Delphos, Terry Martin (Terry) of Payne, Russel Sterling (Kelly) of White Lake, MI. Grandchildren: Ryan Hanf (Nichole) of Marysville, Andrew Hanf (Kelley) of Ashley, Joshua Hanf of Dublin, Matthew Eilerman (Morgan) & Jennifer Lozada (Ryan) of Cincinnati, Dana Addis (Jeremy) of Lima, David W. Maxwell III (Kayla) of Convoy, Kurstie Maxwell of Van Wert, Hanna Maxwell (Tyler) of Ridgeway, OH, Mark Wirwille (Kim) of New Knoxville, Lori Harden (Mike), Lisa Clark (Gregg), Julie Green (Troy) all of St. Marys, Stephanie Harvey (Rob) of Houston TX, Eric Martin of Lake Wales, FL, Tracey Ogle (Ken) of Grover Hill, Bethany Colley (Brad) of Wapak, Jessica Schultz (Greg) of Paulding, Amanda Moore (Jeremy) of Grover Hill, Amber Miller (Seth), Megan Miller (Broc) both of Haviland, Jay DeWitt (Nancy), Jennifer DeWitt (Mike) both of Delphos, Amy Martin, Rachel Martin both of Delphos, Jacey Leeman & Gavin Leeman both of Detroit; and his only niece, Leslie Kowal (Roger) of Youngstown, OH. Included in his legacy are also 54 great grandchildren & 26 great- great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Marlene Pannunzio (Louie) of Youngstown, stepson, Dennis Martin (Brenda) of Delphos and a stepdaughter, Jeannette DeWitt (Jack) of Delphos.

David was a graduate of Elida High School in 1957 and was a Veteran of the United States Navy where he worked as a tool & die maker on naval ships. He had retired from Dana Corporation after working for over 30 years designing many patents for the Company. He enjoyed in his children’s early years coaching the Vikings Midget football teams in Delphos. He started the Delphos Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessman’s International group. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of Toledo for over 22 years and worked for the church in the maintenance dept. for 13 years. He was currently a member of the RAISE Encounters church in Lima, where he served as an elder. Dave loved his travels with Kristi, especially the trips to Frankenmuth, an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, fishing at Lake Erie with his son & grandsons, golfing with whomever took the chance with him (lol), visiting with his grandkids and most of all, he loved to share the Gospel with all whom he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. Friday Sept. 27th, 2024. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the service at noon. Pastor Sherri Pace will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Putnam County or RAISE Encounters Church.
