Dennis Metzner, 74, of Delphos, passed away at 8:22 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born on July 23, 1946, to Paul “Vince” and Helen (Van Wald) Metzner who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his life-long companion, Diane Trentman of Delphos; brother, Richard (Denise) Metzner of Lake Worth, Fl; sisters, Barbara Metzner of Dayton, Marty (Mike) Clark of Delphos, and Mary Lou (Tim) Gasser of Sylvania.
Dennis was a member of Delphos St. John’s, and a 1965 graduate of St. John’s. He was also a social member of the VFW post #3035 and the Eagles #471. He was also a past member of the Kiwanis Club. He retired from Federal Mogul Corporation.
His true passion was sports of any kind. He was an avid Blue Jay, Notre Dame, and Browns fan.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Landeck St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Fr. Tony Vera will officiate. Visitation will be held at Harter and Schier Funeral Home on Sunday, February 7, 2021, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. with a Parish Wake at 5:30. Family is requesting that masks be worn during visitation and funeral services. A rosary will be prayed in the church 1/2 prior to the funeral Mass. Everyone is welcomed to join in praying the rosary in assisting the soul of our loved one in their journey to attaining eternal life and peace.
