Don C. Rupert, 73, of Delphos, passed away June 5, 2021, at Sarah Jane Living Facility. He was born in Lima to Clarence and Flora (Statham) Rupert on August 6, 1947. Both preceded him in death.
He is survived by a brother, Roy Rupert, of Delphos; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Monty Rupert.
Don was a member of the Delphos VFW post #3035 and the Eagles Aerie #471. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States’ Air Force enlisting in 1968. He served in Puerto Rico, Guam and Germany and was honorably discharged in 1972 as an E-4 Sgt. Don then attended school in Michigan earning a technical degree which allowed him to work for the phone company. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad which later changed to Sprint and retired in 2003.
Fishing and snow skiing while living in Salt Lake City were among Don’s favorite hobbies. While living in Texas, he did a lot of ballroom dancing. Touring the Alamo and site seeing were also pastimes he often did with his brother, Monty.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. with military rites by the Delphos Veterans’ Council. Bishop Matthew McLay of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Both will take place at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society.
