Douglas Jay Sandlin, 62, of Elida, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1959, to Hubert and Waneta (Brunk) Sandlin. On September 2, 1978, he was united in marriage to Darlene (Crisenbery) Sandlin. She survives in Elida.
Doug is also survived by his five children, Carla Rice, Mitchell (Neidy) Sandlin, Charissa Sandlin, Derek Sandlin and Shane Sandlin; four grandchildren, Hadassah and Malcum Sandlin, Shayla and Mikaila Rice; and sisters-in-law, Cindy Sandlin and Cherie Sandlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Sandlin and Dennis Sandlin; a granddaughter, Jazmin Sandlin; and a son-in-law, Ray Rice.
Doug was the owner of Doug’s Plumbing and Heating serving the Lima area for over 40 years. Doug turned his life over to God on January 28, 2012, and since then he loved serving God, memorizing scripture, and talking to people about the things of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family, serving his customers and gardening.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Sharon Mennonite Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Sharon Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
