Dr. Gregory J. Seller, 68, of Delphos, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at The Meadows of Delphos. He was born September 16, 1953, in Dayton, OH, to James and JoAnn (Ranstead) Seller. His mother survives in Delphos. Greg was united in marriage to Dodie M. (Dukes) Seller in 1998. She survives in Delphos.
Greg is also survived by a son, Eric (Jenna) Seller of Lebanon, OH; a daughter, Ann (Rob Honkonen) Seller of Cincinnati, OH; four step-children, Kyle (Tammy) Wannemacher of Warrenton, VA, Sarah (Levi) Sellers of Delphos, Ashley Wannemacher of Antioch, TN, and Amy (Lee) Goulding of Bury St. Edmunds, U.K.; four grandchildren, Nola, Owen, and Lucy Seller, and Oscar Honkonen; six step-grandchildren; Lucas, Elisa, Emma, and Landon Wannemacher, Tristan (Kiely) Wannemacher, and Jakob Treadway; a brother, Mark (Mary) Seller of CA; two brothers-in-law, Kevin (Nancy) and Keith (Deb) Dukes both of Delphos; and two sisters-in-law, Reneè Dukes of TX and Maria Dukes Axe of Delphos.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, James Seller; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Dukes; and grandson, Everett (Eric) Seller.
In 1971, Greg graduated from Fairmont West High School. He received a B.A. in Biology and graduated with Honors from Denison University. Greg earned his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Toledo in 1978 with Honors. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Societies. Greg was a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and Allen County Academy of Medicine and OSMA. In 1981, he and his business partner, Dr. Perry Hux, opened their private practice, Delphos Medical Associates. Many years later they joined St. Rita’s Mercy Health. He was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine in 1988 from the American Board of Family Practice. He was the co-director of St. Rita’s Addiction Center with Dr Hux. Greg was also the Medical Director for Vancrest of Delphos Nursing Home and The Sarah Jane Living Center from 1992-2017 when he retired. Greg was a Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Delphos Eagles Aerie #471 and The Delphos Club. Greg loved spending time with his wife, Dodie, especially at their cottage on Middle Bass Island. He loved spending time with his children, step-children, grandchildren, family, and friends, just hanging out, and playing cards. He loved his Delphos Medical Associates family of co-workers and all of his patients and the relationship he built with them over the past 40+ years until his retirement.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home; there will be a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
