Earl William Myers, 85, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, at Sarah Jane Living Center in Delphos.
He was born March 30, 1934, in Muntana, OH, to William L. and Orah (Ladd) Myers. He was united in marriage to Lois Dunlap; she preceded him in death on August 22, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, William “Bill” (Kathy) Myers of Springfield and Robert “Bob” (Michele) Myers of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Patti Spicer and Rhonda (Steve) Reed both of Columbus Grove; one sister, Ruth Prowant of Continental; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
He attended the Ottawa River Church of God and was a member of the American Legion #715. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he worked in the motor pool as a mechanic for Jeeps and up to two and a half ton trucks. Earl had worked as a machinist at Clark Equipment in Lima and was a maintenance man at Sugar Creek Township, and was also a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, spending time with his family, and enjoyed sitting on his front porch visiting with people who passed by.
His funeral service will be on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ottawa River Cemetery where the Delphos Veterans Council will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call on Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
