Eileen Joseph

Eileen Joseph, 97, of Delphos, peacefully passed away Friday, September 16, 2022, at The Meadows of Delphos. She was born September 8, 1925, in Allen County, OH, to August G. and Edith Ann (Baumgarte) Ebbeskotte. They both preceded her in death. On January 31, 1945, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Klaus; who passed in November 1975. She married Donald C. Joseph on October 30, 1987. In May 2000, he preceded her in death.

Eileen is survived by her son, Gene Klaus of Miamisburg, OH; daughter, Jacki (Tom) Grothous of Delphos; five grandchildren, Toma (Josh) Bomser, Tara (Jeff) Peterman, Kelly (Marty) Scherer, Brian (Karen) Klaus, and Mark (Crystal) Klaus; 13 great-grandchildren, Sydney (Nick) Calvert, Tyler Scherer, Summer Scherer, Michaela Williams, Tanner Williams, Cole Peterman, Sasha Bomser, Toby Bomser, Adam Klaus, Nate Klaus, Max Klaus, Jackson Klaus, and Liam Klaus; one great-great-granddaughter due in December 2022, stepson, Ron (Donna) Joseph of Springfield, OH; stepdaughter, Marilyn (Mike) Taylor of Lima; eight step-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 12 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Eileen was also preceded in death by her brother, Alfred (Jane) Ebbeskotte; stepson, Lynn Joseph; brother-in-law, Ralph (Mary W.) Joseph; and sister-in-law, Iva Joseph (William) Lohr.

Eileen was also known as Baba, a name given to her by her granddaughter. She was a 1943 graduate of Delphos St. John High School and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Eileen was employed at RG Dunn Cigar Co. in Lima for 35 years. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to fish and was great at catching many of them. Eileen was the first resident of The Meadows of Delphos Assisted Living.

Mass for Eileen will be held at a later date. Eileen was a loving, caring, and giving person, not only in life but in death.  Per her request, her body was donated to The Ohio State University Medical College for scientific research. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Delphos St. John School for tuition. Eileen’s arrangements were entrusted to Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
