Elizabeth "Betty" J. Osting

Elizabeth “Betty” J. Osting, 93, of Delphos, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on August 3, 2021, at her son Danny’s residence. Betty was born March 20, 1928, in Delphos to Leonard and Edna (Gremling) Klier. They preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Edward Osting on November 24, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1997.

Betty is survived by her children, Becky Haase of Delphos, Judy Burgei of Ft. Jennings, Danny (Bonnie) Osting of Delphos Jan (Janet) Osting of Monon, IN;  nine grandchildren, Wayne (Herb  Suever) Burgei, Darrin (Sarah) Burgei, Jennifer Siebeneck, Cheryl (Duane) Simon, Tracy (Justin) VanBuskirk, Brandon (Melissa) Osting, Brittany (Curt) Butler, Cory (Amy) Osting, and Grant (Tess Newton) Osting; eighteen great-grandchildren, Keaton, Casey, and Chase Suever, Erica, Kayla, and Madie Crawford, Kaden Burgei, Jada, and Sable Siebeneck, Kennedy, Aubrey, and Zac Simon, Nora, and Karis VanBuskirk, Meah and Karly Osting, Henry Osting and Carter Osting; two sisters, Mary Ann “Molly” Franklin of Delphos, and Pat (Ron) Clemens of Oakwood; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Osting; son-in-law, Mike Burgei, brother, Leonard “Buddy” Klier, Jr.; sister, Rosie Brown; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Betty was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a 1947 graduate of Delphos St. John High School.  She was a member of the VFW Delphos Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking for others, especially her pecan pie and oatmeal cake.  She was also a long time housekeeper for numerous Delphos area residents.  Betty was always ready with quick comebacks and witty sayings that were sure to earn many laughs, for instance; “Don’t forget to write,” “It will cost you a quarter,” “You dumb bunny,” and “I’m always home unless I go somewhere.”  Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.  Father Tony Vera will preside.  Burial will be at a later date at St. John Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos.  A Parish Wake will be held at 7:30.
