G. Hobart Reinier Obituary

G. Hobart Reinier, 91, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.  He was born September 27, 1931, in Zion, IL, to Glenn H. and Marguerite (Lindhout) Reinier. They both preceded him in death. On November 6, 1991, he was united in marriage to Margaret Krouse. She survives in Harrod.

Bart is also survived by daughters, Rise (Kevin Gallagher) Reinier of Bloomington, IN, Julia (Jon) Nutter of MI, and Jeanine (Ben Toth) Reinier of CT; son, Randy Reinier of Bloomington, IN; stepdaughters, Lori (Dave) Wicker of Lima, Christine (Dave) Maxwell of Elida, and Megan Shelley of Harrod; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren,  Ashleigh, Tim, and Hanna; and sisters, Lynn Nolte of Wichita, KA and Susan Thompson of Sioux Saint Marie, MI.

Bart was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Banks and Barbara Reinier; brothers, Peter and Christopher Reinier; and two brothers-in-law.

Bart received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State. He was a law enforcement officer in Zion, IL for many years until becoming a consultant. Bart was also in the Army Reserves; playing in the band. He owned his own consulting company, GHR Consultants. His passion was saving dogs and was a part of K-9 Rescue for Small Paws Rescue. Bart was a member of the Watercolor Society, Unitarian Fellowship, and Audubon Society. Photography and painting were a few of his hobbies; winning many awards, along with having his own art shows. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hiking, camping, and bird watching. One of his many accomplishments was swimming over 100 miles at the YMCA as a member of the Swimming Club. Bart never missed his step-grandchildren’s events or other family functions as family was most important to him.

Services for G. Hobart Reinier, will be held privately.
