Gerald Everett Shaw, 92, of Lima, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2022, at his residence in Lima. He was born June 12, 1930, in Cardington, OH, to Everett Earl and Audrey Francis (Hawkins) Shaw. They both preceded him in death. On October 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Rose Fields. She survives in Lima.
Gerald is also survived by children, Kevin DeWayne Shaw of Lima and Patricia Lynn (Mark) Heidkamp of Upper Arlington; a grandson, Landon Heidkamp; niece, Stacy (Jorge) Acevedo of FL; nephew, Steve Fry of Akron; and brother-in-law, John Wehner of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Jeannette Fuller; and a sister, Rita E. French.
Gerald was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School; Class of 1948. He served in the United State Navy for one year and six years in the Reserves. He worked on an oil tanker and was stationed in California. He worked at Lima Register for 18 years, Unisteel, and General Dynamics Tank Plant. He retired from the tank plant after 15 years as a high lift driver. He was a machinist and welder, also. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching wrestling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Pastor Andrew Shields will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
