Gordon D. Carmean

Gordon D. Carmean, of Delphos, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at his residence.

He was born on October 25, 1934, to Gordie and  Agnes “Rose” (Kohorst) Carmean.  Both preceded him in death.  On February 13, 1965, he was united in marriage to Betty Winebrenner.  She survives in Delphos. 

Gordon is survived by two daughters, Kelly (Elliott) Martin of Lima, and Kim Jacomet of Delphos; three sisters, Almeda Ondo of Elida, Patti Johnson of Indianapolis, and Rita (Rich) Suever of Delphos; and four grandchildren, Boone, Makiya, Jordan and Joey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Lee Carmean; and an infant son.

Gordon was a member of the Navy and served in the Korean War.  He loved to travel and traveled around the world while in the Navy crossing the equator twice.  He was a member of the VFW Post 3035.  He spent a lot of time flint knapping, fishing, and hunting.  He was a history buff who loved museums and genealogy.   Gordon was ornery and liked to make people laugh. His body is generously being donated to Ohio State Medical School as he was a life- long supporter of Ohio State.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the VFW with military rites conducted by the Delphos Veteran’s Council.   memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of the service also at the VFW in Delphos. Please dress casually; Ohio State wear encouraged.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
