Harold R. Thomas

Harold R. Thomas, 81, of Van Wert, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was born July 14, 1942, to Glen and Leona (Volgamott) Thomas.  Both preceded him in death.  On March 10, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marie (Miller).  She survives in Van Wert. 

Harold is also survived by his daughters, Deanne Thomas of Cincinnati and Cheryl Thomas of Greenville; grandchildren, Kyleigh (Levi) Ringwald, Deana (Phillip) Crawford, Drew Keller, Christopher Preteroti, and Madison Wannemacher, nine great-grandchildren, and his sister, Loretta (Richard) Grove of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Belinda Thomas, and his sister, Alice Thomas.

Harold was retired from Chrysler, where he had worked for 37 years.  He was a former member of the Van Wert Moose Lodge #1320.  He was a hard worker but made time with his family to enjoy fishing, football, bike riding, boating, camping, playing cards, and going to the movies. He was a huge fan of Western movies.  Most of all he loved to tease and play with his grandkids.  

The family will receive friends at Harter & Schier Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
