Helen Charlene Staats

Helen Charlene Staats, 91, of Houston, OH, formerly of Delphos, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Delphos, OH, on August 16, 1934, to Carl and Helen (Dunifon) Ebbeskotte. They both preceded her in death. Charlene was united in marriage on May 23, 1958, to Roger Staats. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2008.

Charlene is survived by children, Carla (Vance Martin) Suever of Lakeview, Tracy (Michael) Burress of Houston, and Karen Staats of Delphos; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Sherrick, Taylor Saum, Joseph Suever, Michele McNamara, Vincent McNamara, Kayla Burress, Lee Burress, Danielle Bowersock, and Randy Koenig.

Charlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Catherine; grandson, Todd Gengler; brothers, Walter Graham, Gene Sterling, and Donald Sterling.

Charlene enjoyed watching game shows, listening to 60’s Country music, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, camping, riding motorcycles especially her own Indian motorcycle, but her Chevrolet was everything to her. Charlene’s most precious time was spent with family and her dog, Holly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
