Janet Elizabeth (Peterson) Rozelle, 81, of Delphos, Ohio, passed away at her home on February 14, 2026.
Born on May 26, 1944, in Dayton to Wilton Earl and Viola Ruth Peterson, Jan was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend. She will be remembered for her joyful smile, her beautiful singing voice, her all encompassing faith, and her years of guiding young people into their acedemic career as a first grade teacher.
Jan attended Eastern Kentucky University and taught for 31 years, including 24 years at Spencerville Elementary School. A dedicated vocalist, she sang in her church choir since age nine, was a Sweet Adeline for 40 years, and performed as a baritone in a barbershop quartet for 12 years. She was an active member of the Delphos Trinity Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star (Delphos Chapter 26-past Worthy Matron and Ada), The Red Hatters, Mother’s Club, Garden Club, and the Spencerville Retired Teachers Association.
Jan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Todd Rozelle; her three daughters, Andrea Duerr (Doug), Melissa Ellison (Chris), and Jacquie Kill (Matt); and six grandchildren, Eli Kill, Emma Kill, Norah Duerr, Curtis Duerr, Nate Ellison, and Lily Ellison. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Philip Peterson; her niece, Stacy Peterson; her parents-in-law, Robert and Norma (Toddy) Rozelle; and her sister-in-law, Jacquie Fritz.
Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Harter-Schier Funeral Home. An Eastern Star Service will follow at 4:00 PM, with the funeral service at 4:30 PM, officiated by Dr. David A. Baillie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Everheart Hospice or Delphos Trinity Methodist Church.
