Jerry Mericle

Jerry L. Mericle, 79, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Mercy Health, St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Delphos, July 1,1945, the son of Evelyn and Gilbert Mericle. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Nancy (Truman), his daughter; Jennifer Salazar, grandchildren; Lena Salazar, Luke Salazar, Lane, Salazar, Lila Salazr, sister-in-law; Anna Mericle of Toledo, and devoted friend, his dog; Peanut. 

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Ron and Roger, sister-in-law; Betty Mericle, and granddaughter; Lana Salazar.

Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School.  He proudly served in the United States Army, being stationed in Viet Nam.  Jerry worked at Delpha Chevrolet for 30 years, and then at Accu Built of Lima for another 16 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed his Tuesday morning coffee klatch with friends, golfing, fishing, going to the Eagles, and watching car shows, and westerns, especially Gunsmoke.  He was an avid bowler, having bowled over 50 years, until his health started to fail.  Jerry was a member of Delphos Trinity Methodist Church.  He was one of the original members of the Delphos Area Car Club.  He was a member of Delphos Eagles Aerie #471, Delphos V.F.W. Post # 3035 and a member of the V.F.W. Funeral Detail.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on, Tuesday July 30, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Rev. Richard Rakay, officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
