John W. Etzkorn

John W. Etzkorn, 78, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Delphos, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Anne Nursing Home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born June 12, 1945, in Landeck, OH, to Paul and Marciel (Pohlman) Etzkorn. They both preceded him in death.

John is survived by his siblings, David (Judy) Etzkorn of Rochester Hills, MI, JoAnn (Rick) Young of Copley, OH, and Paula (Dale) Warnecke of North Royalton, OH; and life-long friend and tennis partner, Lee Wagner; along with many nieces and nephews.

John was in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was a quality control inspector at Slater Steel in Fort Wayne, IN. John had a knack for growing beautiful roses and enjoyed gardening. He was an avid reader, enjoyed history, loved working with wood and was an accomplished woodworker. He was able to repair or fix anything. He played tennis in Fort Wayne in his younger years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 21, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. A Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
