Judith “Judy” Marie Schwinnen, 75, went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 7, 1950, to Walter and Margaret (Vondran) Schwinnen, who preceded her in death. Judy was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Frank Meyer; niece, Mary Young; great-nephew, Michael Young; nephew, Brendan Poling; great-nephew, Nicholas Poling; and great-nephew, Caden Meyer.
Judy is survived by her sister, Carolyn Meyer; nieces and nephews, Glenn Young, Frank (Samantha) Meyer Jr., Jennifer (Chad) Prine, David (Mandi) Meyer, and Sarah (Ron) Miller; great-nieces and nephews, Jonathan (Katie) Young, Nathan, Noah, and Nevin Poling, Abigail, Grace, Stella, and Joseph Meyer, Caleb, Isaac, and Jacob Miller, Gabe (Rachel) Prine, and Emme Prine; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Mason, Quinn, Charlie, and Meredith Young, and Peyton Gold.
Judy graduated from Delphos St. John’s Catholic School in 1968. She attended the Ohio State University and earned her Bachelor’s in Education in 1975. Judy was a substitute teacher in elementary education throughout the county for five years. She held various jobs until working at Nickles Bakery in 1994 and retired in January 2013. Though she worked at the bakery, her love of teaching never left. She was always there to help with homework or a school project. Judy loved kids. Her nieces and nephews were her life. She rarely missed one of the kids’ football, T-ball, or baseball games. She frequently took her great nephews to Cincinnati Reds baseball games in which many memories were made. Judy was a very devout Christian. She helped start the RCIA classes at St. John’s Catholic Church in Landeck, OH. Judy taught those classes for many years and was a sponsor to many who were joining the church. She played her guitar, Rosie, during many church services. She loved Ohio State football and football in general. Saturdays and Sundays were game days; a simple call to her would get you the score of every team playing. Judy was also a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds and was glued to the TV on their game days.
In her younger years, Judy loved to kick up her heels at the polka dances that she regularly attended with her family and friends. When Molly B. would come to Landeck, she had a front-row seat. Judy was so loved by all who knew her, a true gem! She was always there to lend a helping hand or listen if you needed to talk. Judy will be missed by everyone. Her love and kindness is something not seen every day. A special place in her heart was held for her fur babies: Ralph, Ninja, and Rocky. Her dear friend Paula Boop has taken them in. We are forever grateful for her generous act of kindness.
